I touched my fear... again

Took the kids to a birthday party today - titled Wil's Wonderful Wildlife Party. Oh dear, it was the same last year, so I knew what to expect - horrible, revolting reptiles, with the chance to touch them. You may (or may not) know that I have a bit of a fear of snakes. Last year at the same child's birthday party, I actually touched one of the creatures, but am sure that my heart was racing (well, I know it was because I could feel it). Today, I had none of that hammering in my chest, am Icured? The only time I freaked out a little bit, was when i looked up and saw The Middle Man with a python draped around his neck - aaagggghhhhh. Photos will be posted when I receive them.

There were other animals too, some cute, some not! There was a turtle, water dragon, blue tongue lizard, an owl, a freshwater crocodile (that got a bit cranky at one stage because the kids were too noisy), a green tree frog, and my favourite - a wombat! The wombat was surprisingly soft, it felt like I was patting a cat. I'd always imagined they would feel quite coarse.

All was well though, the squids are currently using their sugar high to torture their father, while I lock myself away.

Am looking forward to tomorrow when we catch up with some friends that we haven't seen in a long time. The kids used to all play really well, and am hoping that hasn't changed :)
